Speed measurement
Real-time speed and top speed, worked out from onboard telemetry.

Hundredths don’t vanish. You see which sector kept them
These are real sectors from session #2. Switch the lap and see where the driver gained and where it went. Speed measurement will put real-time speed on top of this, once it’s out of testing. We calibrate the telemetry against a radar measurement on a chosen stretch of the track, so the speed on screen has radar behind it.

The session’s best possible lap
25.210
The quickest first sector from lap eighteen, plus the quickest second sector from lap seventeen. Nobody drove it. It sits 0.050 s away.
The sectors and the times are real, straight from the panel. We don’t show real-time speed yet: the telemetry is in testing, and we don’t guess numbers we haven’t measured. What is true on this site →
For the track
Top speed on the reception screen. Drivers ask for that number on their own.
For the driver
Top speed on their own film. It’s the number everyone shows off.
Where it stands
Onboard telemetry is being collected and tested alongside localization. Those two go into production together or not at all.
